Dear Passengers
The Government have announced the maximum fare cap will increase from £2 to £3 on all single bus tickets from January 1st 2025. Unfortunately they have also advised us that they will not be able to give us final details on and the level of finacial support we will get for the revised scheme until 9th December. This will mean it will be much closer to Christmas before we can supply you with the information on what your new fares will be. Please bear with our staff as they will not be able to answer any questions on fares until we have the relevent information on 9th December and have had a bit of time to make our decisions based upon that information.
However, please remember this is a maximum fare cap not a minimum and all current £2 fares will not be rising to £3. For some shorter journeys there is likely to be no rise at all. Passengers who take longer journeys will find the fares will be graded between the current £2 until they reach the £3 maximum under the new scheme. The new scheme will initially last for a full year until December 31st 2025. In most case we believe it will still be best value for passengers to continue to buy 2 single tickets when the new scheme begins.
For example: In 2019 ( pre pandemic ) our return fare from Sheringham / Cromer to Norwich was £6.80 - considering all the inflation and cost increases we have had to deal with in the 6 years since then, you would now be looking at a fare of over £8 probably nearer to £8.50 - The £3 single fare cap will still represent a near 12% reduction on the 2019 fare and confirms that travel by local bus with Sanders Coaches will still represent fantastic value. We are as committed to our local bus network as we have ever been and will continue to strive with our County Council partners to make further improvements to our services and keep fares as low as we possibly can.
Thank you for your continued support of our services. As we enter 2025 our 50th year of trading we know and recognise that passengers are the most important ingrediant in this Companies success story.
Kind Regards
Charles Sanders
